Last week, our team met in Mexico City for our annual offsite. It was three full days of bonding, business updates, and spontaneous dancing at a Lucha Libre match.
This was more than a change of scenery. It was a chance to build real connection between teammates who usually collaborate through screens and Slack threads. And while we packed a lot into the schedule, we kept one intention at the center. Every moment should make it easier to do great work together.
Here’s what we planned, what we learned, and how we used Epoch to make it all happen.
From Toronto, Montreal, San Francisco, and beyond, the full team touched down in CDMX across two travel days. Between early flights and suitcase mishaps, it already felt like a win to see everyone gathered around a shared table for dinner that first night.
We kicked things off with a taco and mezcal crawl through Roma. Everyone was grouped into clusters to explore the city, try new flavors, and meet teammates they rarely get to talk to in person.
Our first session was not about OKRs or targets. It was about us.
We used the True Colors personality framework to reflect on how each of us shows up at work. Everyone picked their dominant style: Orange, Blue, Gold, or Green and gathered in color groups to share stories and answer prompts.
We talked about how we handle stress, how we like to collaborate, and what helps us thrive. The insight was helpful. The energy in the room was even better.
Instead of leaving every meal to chance, we built in gentle structure. Buddy breakfasts started the day with intentional one-on-ones. Group lunches rotated people across teams. Walks between sessions became informal check-ins.
This approach removed the guesswork and made it easier for people to connect. No awkward “where should we eat” or “who should I sit with” moments. Just natural flow.
Our working sessions focused on interaction. Not just presenting. Participating.
Everything was planned and communicated through Epoch. Every calendar invite. Every Slack reminder. Every feedback form. All in one place.
We made time for movement, art, and fun. And those moments mattered just as much.
We walked through the Frida Kahlo Museum with our Uber groups
We cheered through a Lucha Libre show after tacos and drinks
We guessed songs on our shared playlist
We wandered through the city in small dinner groups
Those are the snapshots we’ll remember.
Yes, the structure helped. But the mindset made it meaningful.
Every person showed up with care and curiosity
Every update invited conversation
Every touchpoint was clear and easy because we ran it on Epoch
This was more than a fun week together. It was a reset on how we want to work and grow as a team.
We put together a guide with our templates, tips, and structure, including what we actually used for this offsite.
